PPC Section 176:  Omission to give notice or information to public servant by person legally bound to give it:

Whoever, being legally bound to give any notice or to furnish information on any subject to any public servant, as such, intentionally omits to give such notice or to furnish such information in the manner and at the time required by law, shall be punished with simple imprisonment for a term which may extend to one month, or with fine which may extend to  [one thousand five hundred rupees] , or with both; or,

if the notice or information required to be given respects the commission of an offence, or is required for the purpose of preventing the commission of an offence, or in order to the apprehension of an offender, with simple imprisonment for a term which may extend to six months, or with fine which may extend to [three thousand rupees] or with both; or,

if the notice or information required to be given is required by an order passed under sub-section (1) of Section 565 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898 (V of 1898) with imprisonment, of either description for a term which may extend to six months, or with fine which may extend to  [three thousand rupees] , or with both.

Offence Cognizance Summons/-Warrant Bailable/-NotBailable Punishment Triable By
Intentionally omitting to give notice or information to a public servant by a person legally bound to give such notice or information. Shall not arrest without warrant. Summons Bailable Simple imprisonment for 1 month, or fine of [1500] rupees, or both. Magistrate of the first or second class.
If the notice or information required respects the commission of an offence, etc. Ditto Ditto Ditto Simple imprisonment for 6 months, or fine of [3,000] rupees, or both. Magistrate of the first or second class.
If the notice or information is required by an order passed under subsection (1) of section 565 of this Code. Ditto Ditto Ditto Imprisonment of either description for 6 months, or fine of [3,000] rupees, or both. Ditto
Offence: Bailable --- Intentionally omitting to give notice or information to a public servant by a person legally bound to give such notice or information.
Punishment--- Simple imprisonment for 1 month, or fine of [1500] rupees, or both.
Accused POLICE Police Officer
Offence: Ditto --- If the notice or information required respects the commission of an offence, etc.
Punishment--- Simple imprisonment for 6 months, or fine of [3,000] rupees, or both.
Accused POLICE Police Officer
Offence: Ditto --- If the notice or information is required by an order passed under subsection (1) of section 565 of this Code.
Punishment--- Imprisonment of either description for 6 months, or fine of [3,000] rupees, or both.
