MUSLIM FAMILY LAW ORDINANCE (MFLO 1961)

he Muslim Family Laws Ordinance (MFLO) of 1961 was a significant step towards women's empowerment in Pakistan. It was enacted to implement recommendations from the Commission on Marriage and Family Laws. The MFLO was a compromise between modernists and traditionalists, and made substantial changes to Pakistan's family law. (VIII of 1961) An Ordinance to give effect to certain recommendations of the Commission on Marriage and Family Laws WHEREAS it is expedient to give effect to certain recommendations of the Commission on Marriage and Family Laws; NOW, THEREFORE, in pursuance of the Proclamation of the seventh day of October, 1958, and in exercise of all powers enabling him in that behalf, the President is pleased to make and promulgate the following Ordinance:
