Text of PPC Section 24-A

Section 24-A: Appearance of Parties on Transfer of Suit, etc.

1. Appearance on Transfer or Withdrawal by Application of a Party:

   • When any suit is transferred under Section 22, or any suit, appeal, or other proceeding is transferred or withdrawn under subsection (1) of Section 24 upon the application of a party, the Court ordering the transfer or withdrawal shall:
     • Fix a date for the appearance of the parties before itself, if it is to try or dispose of the matter, or
     • Fix a date for the parties to appear before the Court to which the matter is transferred.

2. Appearance on Transfer Otherwise than by Application of a Party:

   • When any suit, appeal, or other proceeding is transferred from one Court to another, not on the application of a party:
     • The parties shall appear before the original Court on the scheduled date fixed for their appearance.
     • The original Court shall then communicate the transfer order to the parties and direct them to appear before the transferee Court either:
       • On the same day, or
       • On the earliest reasonable day considering the distance of the transferee Court's location.
